2013 Manistee Rug School -- where to stay
PLACES TO STAY WHEN YOU COME TO MANISTEE RUG SCHOOL
As we do not have a special place for you to stay when you attend the Manistee Rug
School, we suggest the following places.
The Alpine Motor Lodge is located on US 31 about 1 ½ miles outside of Onekama.
It is not new, but the rooms are clean with air conditioning, coffee, refrigerator, color TV
and outdoor pool. A continental breakfast is available. As a special for Rug School,
they will be making rooms available at the rate of $64.43 per room which has tax
already included. The rooms are fairly large and have two queen beds. Call Barb at 231-889-4281.
The Portage Lake Motel in Onekama is about 6 blocks away from the school. Nothing
fancy. but clean. Room rates range from $45.00 to $55.00 per night. They do allow
some animals. call Paul at 231-889-4921. Ask for Rug School special.
The Little River Casino is about 6 miles away. They have very nice accomodations
and in June, they have many specials that make it about $70.00 a room, and they
give you some freebies such as part dinner coupon and other things for th casino. They
also have a very nice spot to take an RV or trailer. 1-800-466-7338.
There are some condos in town . I believe the one located right by the park and beach
with their own beach front has two bedrooms and I think 4 beds. Call them at 616-886-
0927 or www.vrbo.com
Century 21 rents cottages. Call them at 231-645-7368
Many of the students have liked the Microtel in Manistee. This would be about 12 miles away but clean and the rates are good. 231-398-0008.
For those coming by yourself I have the names of a couple of homes that would
be open to you. Each would have a private room and a shared bath and run between
$125.00 to $150.00 for the week with a small breakfast. These people are rug hookers
and quilters so have a love of the art.
We would also suggest that you visit the web site www.onekama.mi.com
We also have some wonderful places to stay at Arcadia, Bear Lake and Frankfort
depending on how far you care to be from the school. All of these towns have many
shops and funky places to visit.
I will be adding "things to do in the area" as I get more information.
