2010 Manistee Rug School Registration Form
10TH ANNUAL MANISTEE RUG SCHOOL
June 21 to June 25, 2010
It is our pleasure to invite you to enroll in the 10th Annual Manistee Rug School, June 21st through 25th, 2010. The school is sponsored by the West Shore Ruggers Guild.
Classes will be held at the Manistee High School, 525—12th Street, Manistee, Michigan, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily. Ending Friday at 1:00 p.m. The building is handicapped accessible.
Cost of enrollment in the rug school classes is $185.00 for the week. This does not include your supplies, extras that you may purchase for your rug or meals and lodging. Lunch is available for an extra fee with your choice of regular, vegetarian or notify us of any special dietary needs.
To enroll, send a deposit of $100.00 to reserve your spot with first and second choices of teachers. You will receive confirmation of your reservation. The lunch fee will be due at registration. Your registration will be refunded if you cancel by March 31, 2010. Send the attached form with your check to:

Kris Miller, Howell, Michigan
“I started rug hooking in 1998 after I saw stacks and stacks of spot dyed wool and wondered what people did with all those beautiful colors.” Kris teaches exclusively primitives and wide cuts with a heavy emphasis on textured wool and no shading. Her business is Spruce Ridge Studios, where she represents many other artists besides herself and also sells hand-dyed and as-is wool, as well as rug hooking accessories. Judy Colley, Wyoming, Michigan
Judy has been teaching rug hooking since 1975 and is an accredited McGown teacher. She has taught at schools and workshops around the country and teaches weekly in her home studio. He work has been displayed many times in “Celebrations” and RHM. She is the director of “Off The Ocean Rug Hooking Conference” in Florida each January. She loves color, color planning and dyeing. Gail Dufresne, Lambertville, NJ
Gail comes from a long line of rug hooking ancestry and has been hooking over 22 years. Her open class where “anything goes” can also incorporate the use of unusual materials such as boucle, angora, chenille and ribbons. She teaches all cuts and loves to play with color, textures and especially geometrics. Her class can include proddy and sculpturing techniques. Her work has been in “Celebrations”, many articles in RHM and ATHA. Tish Murphy, Minneapolis, MN
Tish has been a rug hooker for about 25 years, self taught, but with a lifetime of training and experience as an artist. During the past 10-15 years she has developed a keen interest in hooking faces and love sharing her techniques with others. Tish has taught in Minnesota, Maine, and Wisconsin and has had the pleasure of many appearances in Rug Hooking Magazine and the Celebration annual, beginning in 1990. In addition to her love of faces, she enjoys stretching the limits of rug hooking - always investigating new applications of this wonderful medium. The focus of this class will be on hooking a face, your own or one of Tish’s patterns available from her.
